Alaska is unique among the American states in
many ways. One distinction: Alaskans are the "flyingist" people in the
country. Aircraft covers are an important part of winter flying here
just as in other cold regions of the world....because most of us don't
have heated hangers. We have over 60 years of experience making these
products for Alaskans and other cold country aviators.
Aircraft covers are important in cold regions.
- Frost forms on exposed surfaces, which increases drag and reduces
lift. Frost can be mechanically removed, or melted off, but it is still easier by far to keep it off in the first place. Frost forms on the wing
covers instead of the wings.
- Covers over windshields make it possible to see through right
away, without mechanical frost removal, which can scratch the
windshield.
- Powerplant covers keep the warmth in longer. While no insulated
cover will keep out deep cold over extended periods, these covers can
significantly cut engine heating times. Many pilots even cover the
spinner and blades as a surprising amount of heat is lost from the areas.
- No one looks forward to forced landings, but they happen. If it
happens to you, your Alaska Tent and Tarp engine cover can provide extra
insulation to keep YOU warm.
